Laboratory assay overview

Elevated AFP levels have been seen not only in patients with non-seminomatous testicular cancer, but also in patients with other malignancies such as hepatocellular carcinoma, ovarian cancer, gastrointestinal cancer and pulmonary cancer. AFP is also frequently elevated in benign hepatic conditions such as acute viral hepatitis, chronic active hepatitis, and cirrhosis.

Verify these ranges and sources

We compile every detail above directly from named laboratory directories and published clinical studies. Laboratories calculate standard reference intervals from the statistical distribution of tested populations for a specific assay method and demographic group, rather than setting universal optimal targets.

Always review your personal lab results with a licensed clinician, or track your lab history and health goals in Aumnivida.
