Laboratory assay overview

Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) is characterized by high levels of LDL cholesterol (LDL-C). Elevated levels of LDL-C cause an increased risk for premature coronary artery disease, which can result in myocardial infarction. Individuals with FH may also develop visible lipid deposits in the tendons (tendon xanthoma) or eyes (corneal arcus). The LDLR, APOB, and PCSK9 genes are associated with familial hypercholesterolemia. This test includes comprehensive analysis of these three genes.

Verify these ranges and sources

We compile every detail above directly from named laboratory directories and published clinical studies. Laboratories calculate standard reference intervals from the statistical distribution of tested populations for a specific assay method and demographic group, rather than setting universal optimal targets.

Always review your personal lab results with a licensed clinician, or track your lab history and health goals in Aumnivida.
