What the laboratory says this test is for

G. vaginalis is associated (in concert with other organisms) with bacterial vaginosis. Trichomonas and candida species are known agents of vaginitis.

What the laboratory says this test is for

This test is an in vitro nucleic acid amplification test for the detection of RNA from microorganisms associated with vulvovaginal candidiasis and trichomoniasis. The assay utilizes real time transcription-mediated amplification (TMA) to detect and qualitatively report results for the following organisms:1. Candida species group (C. albicans, C. tropicalis, C. parapsilosis, C. dubliniensis)2. Candida glabrata3. Trichomonas vaginalisThe assay is intended to aid in the diagnosis of vulvovaginal candidiasis and trichomoniasis on using clinician-collected and patient-collected vaginal swab specimens from females with a clinical presentation consistent with vaginitis or vulvovaginitis

What the laboratory says this test is for

This panel may be used as an aid in the diagnosis of several fungal infections that can cause serious infection. This qualitative immunodiffusion-based test is designed to detect serum antibodies directed against Aspergillus species (specifically A. flavus, A. fumigatus, A. niger), Blastomyces dermatitidis, Candida species, Coccidioides immitis, and Histoplasma capsulatum. These fungi may cause invasive infections that can represent a diagnostic challenge. While the endemic mycoses may have differing epidemiological risk factors, clinically they may have overlapping features. Thus, definitive diagnosis depends on fungal culture, characteristic fungal staining in specimens, or other direct diagnostic means, such as molecular methods, that may require invasive procedures.Immunodiffusion bands of identity or partial identity with a positive control are considered positive and indicate patient antibody against the fungal antigen in question. Negative results do not rule out infection, especially if testing is done before antibody development early in infection or if the patient is immunocompromised. Test results should be correlated with the patient's epidemiological risk factors and clinical findings.

What the laboratory says this test is for

The assay is intended to aid in the diagnosis of vaginitis using clinician-collected and patient-collected vaginal swab specimens from individuals with a clinical presentation consistent with vaginitis. Testing for bacterial vaginosis (BV), vulvovaginal candidiasis and trichomoniasis, as well as Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae is included. The BV test is an in vitro nucleic acid amplification test that utilizes real time transcription-mediated amplification (TMA) for detection and quantitation of ribosomal RNA from bacteria associated with bacterial vaginosis (BV), including Lactobacillus (L. gasseri, L.crispatus, and L. jensenii), Gardnerella vaginalis, and Atopobium vaginae. The assay reports a qualitative result for BV and does not report results for individual organisms. For vulvovaginal candidiasis and trichomoniasis, a real time transcription-mediated amplification (TMA) assay is used to detect and qualitatively report results for Candida species group (C. albicans, C. tropicalis, C. parapsilosis, C. dubliniensis, C. glabrata), and Trichomonas vaginalis. For Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae, A target capture assay for the in vitro qualitative detection and differentiation of ribosomal RNA (rRNA) from Chlamydia trachomatis and/or Neisseria gonorrhoeae is utilized.
