- Method
- Real-Time Reverse Transcriptase Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR)
- Collection
- Do not reject specimens, send to laboratory for screening. Collect 3 mL of whole blood or bone marrow in an EDTA (lavender-top) tube, green-top (heparin) or yellow-top (ACD) tube. Whole blood or bone marrow is shipped at room temperature or refrigerated (cold packs). Do not freeze whole blood or bone marrow. Record the draw time and date on the tube. Information regarding draw time and date is required to ensure stability of the sample is maintained. Extracted RNA: Only accept extracted RNA when extraction or isolation is performed in an appropriately qualified laboratory such as a CLIA-certified laboratory or a laboratory meeting equivalent requirements as determined by the CAP and/or CMS.

We compile this page from named laboratory catalogs, guidelines and studies. Labs calculate reference intervals from the people they test, for one assay method and one population group, so an interval describes that population rather than an optimal target.
