- Method
- Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectormetry (LC/MS)
- Preparation
- It is preferable for the patient to be off medications for three days prior to collection. Patient should avoid alcohol, coffee, tea, tobacco and strenuous exercise prior to collection.
- Collection
- After urine collection, add 0.5-1.0 g/L boric acid (or 6N HCl) to maintain a pH below 3. Urine without preservative is acceptable if pH is below 6 and sample is shipped frozen.

Verify these ranges and sources
We compile this page from named laboratory catalogs, guidelines and studies. Labs calculate reference intervals from the people they test, for one assay method and one population group, so an interval describes that population rather than an optimal target.
