Eosinophil Cationic Protein (ECP) 004180
Serum · Fasting not stated · Turnaround 4 - 7 days
Labcorp catalog pageMethod and collection
- Method
- ImmunoCAP®
- Collection
- Allow the sample to stand for 60 to 120 minutes to release the ECP in the cells prior to centrifugation. Separate the serum after 60 to 120 minutes and transfer to a plastic transport tube.
- Reference notes
- 4−54 μg/L
Quest Diagnostics 1 test
Single-analyte tests
Eosinophil Cationic Protein (ECP) 37914
Serum · Fasting not stated · Turnaround Set up: Wed (a.m.)
Quest Diagnostics catalog pageMethod and collection
- Method
- Fluoroenzyme Immunoassay (UNICAP)
- Collection
- Parameters such as blood collection tube, coagulation time and temperature must be kept within specified limits, since they affect the concentration of released ECP in serum samples. The clotting represents the first incubation in the assay, in which the ECP measured is to be reproducibly released from the eosinophils which have been activated by the inflammation. Collect blood by venipuncture. After collection gently invert the tube 5 times. Release ECP by clotting for 60-120 minutes at room temperature 20-24° C. The temperature must not vary more than + or - 1 degree between sampling occasions to give comparable results. Centrifuge at 1000-1300 x g for 10 minutes at room temperature. Decant serum into a new tube.
- Reference notes
- 2-10 mcg/L

We compile this page from named laboratory catalogs, guidelines and studies. Labs calculate reference intervals from the people they test, for one assay method and one population group, so an interval describes that population rather than an optimal target.
