Ranges

Each lab publishes a reference range for the population groups it tests, usually the middle 95% of results. These intervals describe that population, not an optimal or healthy target. How ranges differ

Panels that include this biomarker

  • Hexosaminidase A and Total Hexosaminidase, Leukocytes 34842

2 analytes · Blood · Fasting not stated · Turnaround Set up: Mon, Thurs, Fri; Report available: 8 days

    Method and collection
    Method
    Fluorometric • Heat Inactivation • Semi-automated
    Collection
Draw blood in ACD Solution A or B (yellow-top) tube(s) and send 6 mL of ACD whole blood refrigerated. (Keep specimen cool with frozen coolant April-October. Protect specimen from freezing by placing it in a bubble-pack supplied by Mayo Medical Laboratories, use refrigerated coolant November-March). Specimen cannot be frozen. Do not transfer blood to other containers. Specimen must arrive within 96 hours of draw to be stabilized. Draw specimen Monday through Thursday only and not the day before a holiday. Specimen should be drawn and packaged as close to shipping time as possible. New York state clients: Informed consent is required. Verify these ranges and sources

We compile this page from named laboratory catalogs, guidelines and studies. Labs calculate reference intervals from the people they test, for one assay method and one population group, so an interval describes that population rather than an optimal target.
