- Collection
- Maternal cell contamination (MCC) is performed as part of our quality assurance program. MCC studies will be completed if indicated on associated cytogenetic samples. MCC is required for all molecular tests ordered on fetal samples. This test is run in conjunction with either a fetal specimen (amniotic fluid, dissected chorionic villus (CVS) biopsy or products of conception) or a cord blood sample. The assay cannot be run until fetal cultures or DNA is ready. Whole blood: Specimen stability is crucial. Store and ship ambient immediately. Do not freeze.

We compile this page from named laboratory catalogs, guidelines and studies. Labs calculate reference intervals from the people they test, for one assay method and one population group, so an interval describes that population rather than an optimal target.
