Heart health
Cardiovascular risk as lipid and inflammation guidelines assess it: the cholesterol-carrying lipoproteins, triglycerides and markers that refine risk.
Biomarkers
Start with the primary markers, then add the companions that change how the primary result reads. Each link cites its source.
Apolipoprotein BPrimary marker
The ESC/EAS guideline sets ApoB goals by risk group as a secondary target.
Tests: Labcorp 5, Quest Diagnostics 5, with ranges on the biomarker page
LDL Chol CalcPrimary marker
The AHA/ACC guideline uses LDL-C thresholds, such as 190 mg/dL and 70 mg/dL, to guide treatment.
Tests: Labcorp 29, Quest Diagnostics 8, with ranges on the biomarker page
Lipoprotein aPrimary marker
The ESC/EAS guideline advises measuring Lp(a) at least once in each person's lifetime.
Tests: Labcorp 2, Quest Diagnostics 2, with ranges on the biomarker page
C-Reactive Protein, CardiacCompanion marker
The ACC/AHA primary prevention guideline lists hs-CRP of 2.0 mg/L or higher as a risk-enhancing factor.
Tests: Labcorp 2, Quest Diagnostics 3, with ranges on the biomarker page
HDLCompanion marker
The AHA/ACC guideline counts low HDL-C (below 40 mg/dL in men, 50 mg/dL in women) within its metabolic syndrome risk-enhancing factor.
TriglyceridesCompanion marker
The ESC/EAS guideline sets no triglyceride goal but notes below 150 mg/dL indicates lower risk.
Tests: Labcorp 34, Quest Diagnostics 16, with ranges on the biomarker page
